One of the few things the two breeds do share is high intelligence, which makes goldendoodle dogs exceptionally smart.
According to Dr. Stanley Coren's research on canine intelligence, (most other resources ultimately come back to site his work), poodles and golden retrievers are #2 and #4 respectively.
We love golden doodles because they are incredibly healthy, docile, easy to train dogs. This means a happy, content friend in your family that you will love for years to come!
They have a much lower incidence of personality 'quirk' because of the hybrid vigor, and you will have a companion you can depend on.
Why Teddy Bear Goldendoodles?
Have you ever gone shopping for a Teddy Bear? There is an art to it. I learned from a master of Teddy Bear selection about 9 years ago. She would buy Teddy Bears for babies as presents, and each selection would take at least ½ an hour at each of multiple locations.
Our daughter was a recipient of one of her Teddy Bears. This was when I was shown the art. Words can’t describe how you look at a teddy bear. It’s in the eyes, the expression, and how they really do comfort you right down to your core.
When you receive “The One”, you know it will be your best friend for life. There is no coincidences when adopting the right teddy bear.
Before we started breeding Goldendoodle Dogs, originally we were breeding Golden Retrievers. We chose English Retrievers primarily because of the regulations against inbreeding or line-breeding with English Retrievers.
Working with Holistic Breeding practices, genetic diversity is very important. It was a very easy decision to make.
When we adopted our first English Golden Retriever, we realized that we had 20 generations back of not a single crossed line! Compare that to 5 generations with American retrievers.
The time to transition to Golden Doodles had arrived. What a joy it was for me to discover not only Golden Doodle Dogs, but Teddy Bear Goldendoodles!
We are able to combine the genetic health and diversity of Hybrid Vigor, with the perfect family pet, AND get to share the perfect Teddy Bear experience with the families who adopt our puppies.
So really, Teddy Bear Goldendoodles is a great name for English Goldendoodles. The easiest way to remember the difference is English Golden Doodles come from English Golden Retrievers.
